Hello everyone! My name is Holly, I live with my partner Liam and our kitten Monty!

We moved into our first home in Greater London (@housebythewaterfall) 3 days before lockdown which was very lucky as it meant we had plenty of time to do it up! It’s a semi-detached Victorian house near a park and a little waterfall!

I work in PR in London and my partner Liam works in marketing.

What inspired you to start sharing your beautiful home?

I was posting lots of pictures of my house during lockdown on my personal account and my friends kept saying they’d like to see more so I thought I’d start a separate account as a fun hobby during lockdown and I’m so glad I did! It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve met so many nice people through it.

Please could you describe your interior style, has it always been the same or has it evolved over time?

I would say my interiors style is minimal with a splash of colour!

I have a lot of neutral spaces with a bold colour introduced like the green velvet sofa in our living room or the blue velvet chairs in the dining room! I love marble and velvet textures with muted accessories.

I think I’ve really developed an interest in interiors over the past few years and having your own home is an amazing opportunity to really explore your style and put it into practice – my interest has grown even more since doing up our first house.

Style-wise, I’ve always loved seeing marble and velvet out and about at restaurants and bars so it’s really nice to be able to re-create some of that in my own home! Luckily my partner likes the same styles as me also!

What is your favourite space in your lovely home, we think your bath looks so relaxing with all your candles lit!

Thanks so much! I am a big bubble bath fan!

I’d have to say that the living room is my favourite space – it gets a lot of natural light and it’s the most recent room we’ve done up – we waited a long time for the sofa so I am really enjoying sitting in there with a cup of tea!

What brands or trends inspire you or your house purchases?

I love Made.com, H&M Home and Zara Home for inspiration!

Trends wise, I love looking at interior designer’s pages for inspiration – people like Louise Hjorth are wonderful!

Brands I love are Gubi, Srelle Studio, Soho Home and Eichholtz – they all have such stunning designs, I would love to own a couple of pieces one day!

More widely, I love getting inspiration from restaurants, art galleries etc. – I went to Granger & Co at the weekend and they have the most stunning furniture so I was snapping pictures for future inspo!

I’ve always loved seeing marble and velvet out and about at restaurants and bars so it’s really nice to be able to re-create some of that in my own home!

What interior Instagram accounts inspire you, could you name your top 3?

I love the variety of interiors accounts on Instagram, I have to say that the people are also so lovely! I’d have to say my top three for inspiration are:

1) Zina Terazina

2) James Street House

3) Louise Hjorth

What inspired you to buy a Victorian House?

I’ve always loved old buildings and the original features that come with them like high ceilings and detailing – we have two fireplaces in our house and they’re such a nice focal point for a room.

Things like cornicing, tiles and the large windows are synonymous with a Victorian home so it was definitely something we had on our checklist when we were searching!

How did you keep busy during lockdown in your beautiful home?

We did a LOT of baking! We made something every week (we jumped on the banana bread bandwagon!), we also had lots of painting to do in the house and building furniture so that kept us very busy!

We were very lucky to have moved in just before as I don’t think we would have made as much progress on the house if we’d been commuting to work each day.

What item in your home could you not live without?

I think that has to be the kettle! I drink about 5 cups of tea a day so I would be lost without the kettle! So British to say I know 😊

We noticed you have a lot of beautiful candles, which one is your favourite?

Thank you – I’ve been really fortunate to work with some very talented female candlemakers and bring their creations into our home, I don’t think I could choose just one! They’re so important for creating atmosphere and I find them really relaxing – especially when working from home!

I love the bubble candle by Foam Home which I have in my living room, Eym candles smell divine, Cedar Lifestyle also makes beautiful candles and reed diffusers – others I love are Chelsea Candles, Hebe candles and Maribel who makes beautiful torso style candles in lots of different colours!

What's your favourite house purchase you have made in 2020 and is there anything on your wish list?

I think my favourite purchase is our marble coffee table – I’ve always wanted one and I love looking at it! The shape is one I was looking for a long time and it fits the room perfectly!

I’m ashamed to say that I have a very long wish list of things…

First would be a Tradition marble side table and a Srelle Studio office chair.

I’ve also just seen some beautiful marble book ends by Made.com which I have my eye on!

And finally what does the future hold for @housebythewaterfalL?

Definitely a lot more to come and more to do on the house! We’re currently doing up our kitchen on a budget so I’ll be sharing some more photos of how that’s going and we’ve also done a lot of work on the garden recently so I can’t wait to share it with everyone. The spare room became the kitten’s den so we need to transform that now that he’s a bit bigger and sleeps downstairs!

Watch this space…it’s been so lovely talking to you! Thanks for having me!
