Dulux Colour of the Year 2021: Brave Ground

This year, paint experts Dulux have named Brave Ground as their Colour of the Year for 2021. This announcement, year after year, leads the colour trends for interior designers and homeowners alike.

Personally, we love this choice – reassuring and earthy – this beige hue is guaranteed to be a universally loved colour that can evoke both warm and neutral moods, especially when used within interior design.

“Brave Ground connects us back to nature and the simple things. A warm, earthy tone, it creates a feeling of stability, growth and potential; and provides a firm foundation for change and creativity in your home.”
— Dulux

2020 has seen many of us reassessing what matters in our lives. Whilst we as humans develop and progress through all the challenges that this year has brought, Brave Ground provides a solid and supportive foundation within the home to allow us to embrace change elsewhere in our lives.

As a result of the global pandemic, many people’s priorities are shifting significantly, to focus much more on their wellbeing. Colour can play a significant role in this – and with the calming, restorative and natural tones of our 2021 colour palettes, we hope to empower professionals to create spaces where occupants can reflect, recharge and recalibrate.

Here are some of the ways that you might like to incorporate

‘Brave Ground’ into your home:

1. Combine Brave Ground with other neutral tones to create a balanced backdrop, perfect for entertaining

2. Mix warm shades of red and pink with Brave Ground for a beautifully eye-catching, dramatic bedroom scheme

3. Combine Brave Ground with a combination of soft, muted tones to create a relaxed and inviting feel to a home office

4. Create a connection back to the natural world with other earthy colours, such as blue and green. Style with natural wood, reclaimed furniture and indoor plants for the ultimate on-trend look

Here at LIV For Interiors, we love thinking about the different ways that colour can make such an impact beyond just its appearance on a surface level (excuse the pun!).  What do you conjure to mind when you think of the Brave Ground colour? Let us know in the comments!
