LIV Chats To…Interior & DIY Expert Carla About Her Beautiful Vintage Home
This week we're chatting to Carla from @locationhouseofbeau - her stunning home mixes vintage and modern décor. Keep your eyes peeled for her top interior tips and tricks, she may even inspire you to pick up some fresh flowers and house plants!
Hi Carla, first things first, please can you introduce yourself!
I'm a photographer and mum of two. I'm passionate about interior design, and all things creative!
Please tell us more about your stunning home and how @locationhouseofbeau came about?
We bought our home after relocating for my job. It was a bit of a project, probably more than we anticipated. Once we had done most of the work we had a photographer round to photograph it for Period Living magazine and he mentioned that they usually found homes to photograph on Instagram. I had no idea about the interiors Instagram community at that time and it spurred me on to create an account of my own.
Please could you describe your interior style, has it always been the same or has it evolved over time?
I've always loved a mix of vintage and modern design. I love staying true to the era of a property however I think mixing the two creates a unique and inviting home.

What brands or trends inspire you or your house purchases?
I'm inspired by lots of different things... other people's homes on Instagram, restaurant décor, hotels, cafes, shop windows etc., I don't tend to adopt trends with full force.
What interior Instagram accounts inspire you, could you name your top 3?
It's really impossible to name three. I follow lots of different accounts for different reasons I can appreciate very colourful bold homes and very sleek modern monochrome ones too.
We love your home, especially the way you use the houseplants and flowers to brighten up the space.
Do you have any tips for our followers on how to achieve an open, airy feel in their homes?
I'm a huge fan of bringing the outside in whether that's with real plants or faux. I love to mix the two! If you have an empty corner rather than putting a piece of furniture there try adding a monstera or an indoor palm they can really soften the space as well as as clearing pollutants from the air.
You have become known for your incredible home tips and tricks, what is your go to interior trick?
I think adding plants and flowers really can really bring a space to life - it translates very well in photography too.
We love the look of your open plan kitchen, do you have a favourite room in the house?
Funnily enough my kitchen might be my least favourite space. I love my guest room and my living room, I think I might have a thing for dark spaces.
What's your favourite home purchase you have made recently and is there anything on your Wishlist?
The tiles for my garden which I am yet to to have laid but I think they would be my favourite recent and unfortunately most expensive purchase!
I'd love a delicious velvet arm chair for the living room.
And finally what does the future hold for @locationhouseofbeau is there anything left up your sleeve?
We are currently landscaping the garden, that will be an ongoing project as as we get into the planting and dressing of the space.
I'd like to redo my daughter's room at some point in the summer and there's still lots of work to do in the hallway. My home is always evolving so there will always be a project on the go that I can promise you!
