LIV Chats To…Interior & DIY Expert Hayley About Her Beautiful Boho Home
This week we're chatting to Hayley from @iamhayleystuart - her stunning home mixes bohemian and modern décor. Keep your eyes peeled for her top interior tips on how to add colour into the home!
Hi Hayley, first things first, please can you introduce yourself!
I’m Hayley Stuart, a 36 year old, interiors obsessed, avid DIY’er. I live in a rented house with my husband, our two sons and two french bulldogs.
Please tell us more about your stunning home and how @iamhayleystuart came about?
Of course!
When I had our first son Rex, I suffered from PND and really felt like I’d lost myself during that time. It was when I became pregnant with our second son and needed to move to a bigger house that I became who I am today as I unleashed my creativity and found my passion for interiors. I’ve always been creative but home décor really ignites a fire in my belly! I love it! I set up my Instagram account back in 2015 and I’m now lucky enough to call it part of my day job.
Please could you describe your interior style, has it always been the same or has it evolved over time?
My style has 100% evolved, I think everyone’s does. I have always loved mixing vintage items with modern styles but I’ve definitely become more confident with it over the years. I never used to be as brave with colour as I am now and I’m obsessed with creating different colour palettes now. I’d describe my style as bohemian, vintage with a hint of modern and global influences. I’m not sure it’s an easy one to pigeon hole.

What brands or trends inspire you or your house purchases?
I love Homesense, I mean who doesn’t? It’s the not knowing what you’re going to find that I like! I buy a lot of second hand furniture and home décor, so Facebook marketplace is one of the first places I look for things. I also love Anthropologie and like to make things inspired by their products.
What interior Instagram accounts inspire you, could you name your top 3?
Oooh I always struggle with this because I love so many.
I adore @carlaypage’s effortless bohemian style, yet on the other end of the spectrum I take a lot of inspiration from @thejungalow which is just full of colour and pattern. I also adore @thehousethatcolourbuilt, Rick and Jess have created a pastel palace and it looks good enough to eat!
We love your outside area, it’s so fun and colourful! Do you have a favourite space in your home?
I adore my garden, when the weather is good anyway! I have so many plans for it this summer, I’m just waiting for the rain to stop!
I also love my bathroom, it’s decorated in my favourite colour palette and it’s full of interesting pattern and texture.
You have become known for your incredible home tips and tricks, what is your go-to interior trick?
Don’t be scared to make something rather than buy it, the satisfaction is amazing! Also, shop pre-loved, you can make your home really unique!
We love how you use colour in every room, do you have any tips for our followers on how to bring colour into the home?
If you haven’t got much colour in your house then be brave and give it a go because I can guarantee, you’ll get the colour bug. Using colour is so much fun, I try to take at least one colour from a room and pull it through to the next with a different palette so that all the rooms flow nicely.
And finally what does the future hold for @iamhayleystuart is there anything left up your sleeve?
Ooooh I don’t want to reveal too much ha ha!
I’m working on my garden next so that’s going to be very time consuming but long term my dream is perhaps to create my own home décor collection and to write a book about up-cycling.
