Five Ways to Refresh your Home for 2021

With 2021 right around the corner now is the perfect time to start thinking about your interior decorating plans for the new year. With many of us looking at detoxes, diets and embarking on our personal resolutions for the year, it’s easy to forget about the home – January provides an ideal opportunity to transform your interior; to create an inspiring and tranquil place to start the brand new year.

In this blog post we’ve decided to round up five easy ways to refresh your home in 2021 – keep reading to be inspired!

1.

 Add a splash of colour

For tired-looking spaces in need of rejuvenation, why not add a fresh lick of paint. From clean white and pale pastel shades, to warm and earthy neutrals – by introducing a new colourway, the space will feel brand new.

However, in order to make a noticeable difference, you don’t need to re-paint all four walls- just update one wall, to enhance the look and feel of the room

To add character or texture, instead of paint, experiment further with a statement tile. An ideal choice for the kitchen or bathroom, tiles can be laid on both the wall and floor, this allows for complex patterns and designs which can result in an impactful statement or on-trend feature wall.

2.   Introduce a New Focal Point

Every room has a focal point; it draws in the eye and sets the tone for the whole space. For example, in the bedroom, the bed typically dominates the space – in order to give your interior a new look, switch up the headboard for something new, or perhaps reupholster the existing design to breathe a new lease of life into the room.

Another way to create a feature is through a gallery wall; look for interesting prints and artwork that reflects your own style preferences or even frame a small piece of wallpaper. By opting for a striking design, you can re-purpose the wallpaper as a print in other rooms in the home.

3.   Create an Accent with New Brassware

Sometimes the most simple of updates can the biggest impact. As homeowners begin to experiment with colour in their homes, we are seeing more and more consumers utilising coloured brassware.

An alternative to the traditional stainless steel or chrome options, coloured finishes are on-trend and experimental, and allow homeowners’ to create an aesthetic yet unique bathroom space.

4.   Update your Window Coverings

Another way to uplift a space without undertaking major renovation work is to replace your window coverings – from clean shutters to vibrant curtains, a well-placed window covering can alter the dynamic of a space.

Blinds offer complete control whilst providing enhanced privacy and comfort, allowing the homeowner to adjust the level of light with ease. Ideal for family spaces including the kitchen or bathroom, blinds provide the perfect finishing touch and can help to make a space feel warmer and more compact.

5. Experiment with Soft Furnishings

Soft furnishings are the perfect way to convey personal style. As trends change, so do our individual tastes and preferences – therefore an easy way to refresh a space is to switch up our everyday decorative items.

Accessories such as cushions, rugs, blankets and lighting can be re-organised in order to create a new look. Instead of going out to buy brand new products, look to bring in pieces from other rooms in the home; which not only saves costs, but it’s also more sustainable.

With the countdown officially on, we hope we’ve inspired you to update your home in time for the new year!
